If you ever go to Rome, get in, see what you must, and get back out fast. It is quite expensive and extremely crowded. I paid more for a room in Rome than any place I've ever been before and that was for a 3 (out of 4) star hotel. Evidently if you want air conditioning, you better stay in a 4 star. You can take a whole vacation for what it costs for one night in a Rome 4 star hotel. The coffee was excellent, though.
Rome is definitely is not a place you want to drive. The scooter drivers are insane - they have no fear and they swarm much like flies - going anywhere and everywhere. I would watch them driving along-side our bus with maybe two feet between the bus and the curb. If they couldn't get to where they wanted in the streets, then they went up the side walks.
Here is one of the larger scooter parking lots I came across.
While wandering around we went through a produce market. These kids were sitting in the back of what we've always called "fruit scoots". When we lived in Italy, these were everywhere. I saw some on this trip, but they were pretty rare.
The Trevi Fountain. Not much to say here. They say if you throw some money in, you will return to the fountain. I did throw some money in last time. Not sure if I did this time.
The Pantheon is the oldest standing building in Rome. It was built in about 40 AD (yes, I refuse to be politically correct and replace AD with CE).
This was one of many street vendors. Kind of a spooky looking guy. We didn't see any gypsies this time (thankfully); however, in the big tourist areas there were very aggressive vendors selling watches and other such junk.
