The House

After wandering around town a bit we all split up and went to find our houses. I knew the name of the street we lived on, but not the address. I found the North end of Gattaci street and started walking south. The first thing that struck me was how narrow the street was. After walking for a while I found what I thought was the house. I took a bunch of pictures and decided to keep walking.

I came upon the back lot of the Hotel Florida. It seemed to me that we had lived directly across the street from that hotel. I looked across the street and sure enough THAT was our house.

The house is still in great shape. It's a quadplex and we lived on the first floor pictured here. I sure thought the driveway was bigger. They also cut down the trees that my brother fell out of while executing his infamous "crossover", landing on his back in the neighbor's driveway.

I found out the hard way that the doorknob is purely decorative when I locked myself out the first day we lived here - in my pajamas in the winter. Fortunately the American couple above us let me stay in their place until my parents came home.

Here is the hotel across the street. This place has always stuck out in my mind because of my brush with lockjaw!

I was playing here one day when I managed to slam my hand onto a board with rusty nail sticking out of it. Now my dad had explained to me that when you got cut on something rusty you would get lockjaw. He failed to explain to me that the effect wasn't immediate - so I went running home screaming I was getting lockjaw! I didn't get lockjaw - instead I got a tetanus shot in the butt.

Here is Gattaci street. I was south of our house looking north, so our house was on the right hand side, close to the car in the distance.
